The early years of a child's life present a window of extraordinary opportunity. Our teachers cultivate the richest environment for your child to reach their full potential.

Yes! We are licensed as an Oregon Certified Childcare Center through the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC). DELC holds us to the highest standards of care.
All our teachers undergo state and federal background checks, and each is certified in CPR and First Aid. Annually, we require all teachers to complete courses covering the latest early childhood education literature and refreshing them on techniques to maximize student development.
To maintain our Oregon Certified Childcare Center status, we undergo a rigorous annual review. We are subject to surprise state inspections where licensors ensure we are adhering to all state protocols. The local fire marshal and other safety professionals also inspect our building annually to ensure our systems are functioning properly.
Of course… and frankly, we wouldn’t have it any other way. Childcare is a partnership between families and caregivers. As such, it’s really important for us to meet before your son or daughter enrolls!
We encourage you to sign up for a tour at your convenience. Our ultimate goal is to make your child’s transition as seamless as possible, and the first step to accomplish this goal is to establish a trusting relationship with your family.
Using our all-in-one childcare app, Playground! During registration, our director Ms. Claudia will help you download and install the app. Via this secure app, teachers will send you updates and photos of your child throughout the day. If you have an immediate need, you can always call us at (503) 661-9600.
Every child is unique, so the first few weeks of care look different for each child. Some children cry or express frustration at drop-off and pick-up during the first few weeks of care. This is very normal! Our teachers have years of experience helping children adapt and thrive in their new social environment. Over time, they will grow to love school.
The Oregon Department of Early Leaning and Childcare advises licensed centers (like Summit Day School) to adhere to the schedule of local school districts. On days with bad weather or poor road conditions, we consult with Gresham-Barlow and Centennial school districts to determine whether we should open late (or not open at all) or close early.
Yes, we operate on the same (6 a.m. – 6 p.m.) schedule during the summer. We ask that families notify us in advance of the summer months if their student’s schedule will change during the summer. During the summer months, we offer weekly field trips for older students, and families can choose whether or not they want their child to participate.
