Owners

Emmy & Alex oversee life at Summit Day School with over 30 years of combined educational experience between them. In her 20+ years in education, Emmy has focused on hands on learning, school and district-wide policy implementation, outdoor education, teaching and learning teams, special education & inclusion and professional development of staff.  Emmy possesses both bachelors and masters degrees, has accrued over 500+ hours of professional development and currently holds school administrator licenses in both Oregon and Washington.

Alex spent his first 10 years after college working as a college basketball coach, adjunct college professor, academic advisor, and assistant athletic director. Since 2016, Alex has owned and operated several businesses in the PNW.  Emmy and Alex are proud parents of their own and look forward to creating safe, nurturing, and fun environments where your little ones can laugh, grow, and thrive.

Favorite Thing About Working with Children:  The intellectual conversations I’m able to have with the school-age kids.  My other favorite thing is seeing the excited reactions from kids when I come back from being away at school for a while.

Favorite Family Tradition:  Going to the Oregon Coast for the 4th of July – my stepdad always puts on the biggest display of fireworks in Pacific City.  My other favorite tradition is our “Cousin Campout” in the summer.
